I just upgraded to Windows Media Player, and now QuickTime will no longer play movies.
It may be the case that during the installation of Windows media player, QuickTime's file associations were modified. Please try the following: Open QuickTime and select Edit -> Preferences -> QuickTime Preferences from the menu. On the "File Types" tab click the "Use Defaults" button to restore the default file associations.
I cannot view the streaming video in either the Nurse Theorists or Bates Online.
You may need to download the QuickTime plug-in. Make sure to save it on your desktop. After the download is complete, please close all of your browser windows and double-click on the installer you just downloaded. After installation of this plugin, you should be able to view your content.
I have QuickTime installed and my file associations are correct. When I try to view either the Nurse Theorists or Bates Online I can hear audio but the video is blurry.
You may want to try the following: Open QuickTime and select Edit -> Preferences -> QuickTime Preferences from the menu. On the "Advanced" tab check the box next to "Safe Mode".
I cannot view either Critical Thinking in Nursing Management, Sterile Technique, Vital Signs, the Mobility Series or Therapeutic Communication.
You may need to download a Plug-in called Macromedia Shockwave.
I have downloaded Macromedia Shockwave and am trying to view Critical Thinking in Nursing Management, Sterile Technique, Vital Signs, the Mobility Series or Therapeutic Communication, but when launching the program I get an error notifying me that the video contains an error and that Shockwave cannot play this file.
Please download QuickTime. Make sure to save it on your desktop. After the download is complete, please close all of your browser windows and double-click on the installer you just downloaded. After installation of this plugin, you should be able to view your content.
I have downloaded both QuickTime and Shockwave Plug-ins and the program still will not work properly.
You may need to re-install both QuickTime and Macromedia Shockwave Plug-ins in the correct order. We have discovered that some operating systems will not install the desired plug-ins correctly unless they are done so in a certain sequence. The correct order is as follows:
  1. Un-install both QuickTime and Macromedia Shockwave Plug-ins.
  2. Re-install QuickTime first, following all the on-screen instructions.
  3. Re-install Macromedia Shockwave, following all the on-screen instructions.
I have installed QuickTime and Shockwave in the correct order, but am still unable to view the material.
It may be the case that Shockwave is set to not allow backward-compatibility. You can correct that by doing this:
  1. When viewing a program in the Therapeutic Communication series or another affected series and a video does not work, please right-click on the video.
  2. Select "Properties".
  3. Make sure the box next to "Allow backward compatibility" is checked.
  4. Close the dialog box.
  5. Reopen the program that you were trying to watch.

If that fails as well, you may need to download Shockwave's uninstaller and download the correct version for your Operating System. Be sure to download the full installer of Shockwave.

Firefox users on Windows XP machines may need to consult Mozilla's list of known issues to allow their browser to run in compatibility mode.

I am trying to view one of the IV Therapy programs, but it is stuck at "Building pages" and won't let me view them.

My browser gives me a certificate error. What should I do?
Sometimes students access our site after they have logged on to a university proxy server, which uses a certificate that identifies it. Our site does essentially the same. This can result in a warning that is issued to you by your browser saying that our site has an invalid certificate. In case your institution is using IP-based authentication, simply log out an then go directly to your VLRC starting page. You will automatically be logged in as a user of the institution which matches your IP address.
